Why Did I Give My Best GiftSome inspirations and emotions behind giving to The Build
A church is only as strong as its community. If people don’t care enough to get involved, it doesn’t bode well for our community and our long term viability here. We’re building a community. This is a big deal.
Growing up in Lake Tahoe, our closest Greek church was an hour and half away in Reno, a trip my family took almost every Sunday. The Reno church lacked such pivotal ministries like Dance Group, Greek School and an established GOYA, so I am very cognizant of how lucky my children are to have the Annunciation. Our parish is truly blessed to receive these new facilities and should not take them for granted. We have a great responsibility as a parish to support, build and protect what is truly a defining moment for our community.
A large portion of my youth was spent at church. From late night Greek dance practices to serving as an alter boy, the church became a second home. I want to afford my children and their children the same opportunities to grow with the church as I had. Our grandparents and parents helped pave the way for my generation. I might not be able to contribute the most, but what I can contribute is a lot more than contributing nothing, and everything counts.
I was baptized in this church. I grew up in this church. I went to Greek School and was an alter boy. This is my church, I feel like it is my home.
It is about leaving a legacy. We all have different gifts and things we can offer. So this is one way of giving back. It's about showing your love for God, for our faith, and really, for our future generations.
