An historic vote to proceed with our long-awaited building project took place at the Special Parish Assembly on Sunday, March 29. Jim Chuchas was elected Chairman, Joann Georgallis was appointed Recording Secretary and Lou Demas Parliamentarian.
Over 200 stewards and friends of Annunciation listened attentively to the presentation by Capital Campaign Chair Sam Manolakas. After questions and answers, the proposal to allow the building committee to secure the necessary financing (bridge loan) and to schedule the ground breaking was put to a vote by secret ballot.
One hundred ninety-six (196) ballots were cast with the following results:
One hundred eighty-five (185) in favor
Eleven (11) opposed
The votes in favor greatly exceeded the minimum two-thirds (2/3) required by the Uniform Parish Regulations of the Archdiocese. Going forward, the Parish Council in concert with the Building and Capital Campaign committees will execute the necessary documents to proceed with construction and conduct the general capital campaign.
May our Lord Jesus Christ, the Master Architect of +he Build continue to bless our community and allow us to see this project completed safely and in a timely manner.
